PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The Laboratory Animal Sciences Program (LASP) provides exceptional quality animal care and technical support services for animal research performed at the National Cancer Institute at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research.
LASP executes this mission by providing a broad spectrum of state-of-the-art technologies and services that are focused on the design, generation, characterization, and application of genetically engineered and biological animal models of human disease, which are aimed at the development of targeted diagnostics and therapies.
LASP contributes to advancing human health, developing new treatments, and improving existing treatments for cancer and other diseases while ensuring safe and humane treatment of animals.
KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES Designing CRISPR-mediated experiments which include, but not limited to, gene knockouts, gene knock-ins, custom targeted libraries Interface with the collaborating investigators on projects - providing guidance, consultation, and responding to queries in a timely manner Assist the laboratory director in project management and generating activity reports Performing CRISPR-mediated experiments in mammalian cells - gene knockouts, clonal cell line generation, and genetic screens Illumina-based targeted amplicon sequencing Cloning plasmid constructs when needed Contributing to manuscripts from both projects led by the GMC as well as supported by the GMC BASIC QUALIFICATIONS To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Possession of a (CHEA) PhD or an MD (or a combination) degree from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Foreign degrees must be evaluated for US equivalency Fundamental understanding and expertise in the CRISPR/Cas9 technology as well as general molecular biology Well-developed self-organization, project planning and time management skills Expertise in computer-based data acquisition, management, and data analysis Ability to plan, conduct, troubleshoot, and optimize scientific experiments Extensive communication and presentation skills, ability to prepare comprehensive informative project documentation and other written deliverables, such as manuscripts, meeting abstracts, etc.
Prior research accomplishments documented eg in the form of significant publications in peer-reviewed journals, meeting poster presentations, invited talks, and other evidences of scientific achievements Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
